Comprehensive planning
Using Scenarios
Planners use scenarios to present alternative futures to communities as part of the general planning process. Living with, and examining options for reducing, the risks associated with various hazards should be presented as part of these choices for the future. An interesting example of a community planning effort that used scenarios to present choices to a region comes from some of the rebuilding work in Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina.
