Scenarios can be as straightforward as a HAZUS run that shows decisionmakers such as city administrators or university officials what might happen in the event of an earthquake, to a multi-million dollar effort such as ShakeOut in southern California that engaged 5 million people in earthquake preparedness activities.
By clicking on UNDERWAY and COMPLETED scenarios in the right-hand menu, you can read about a variety of earthquake scenario efforts.
In addition, you can click below to read about using scenarios to exercise the NEHRP Post-Earthquake Investigation Plan. You can also view a presentation from the NEHRP Scenario Workshop, describing how scenarios were used to integrate planning in the recovery process in Louisiana, as well as a presentation describing the experiences of a small town in Oregon in using scenarios.
